How to Read a Shoe Stock Lot Size Distribution
A size distribution tells you how many pairs of each size are in a stock lot. Because stock lots are sold whole — no size picking — it is the most important page of the lot sheet: it decides how fast the lot sells in your market. Ask for one row per size, add the rows up, match the total to the cartons, and check how many pairs sit in the sizes your customers buy most.
What a good size chart shows
- One row per size, written the way it is printed on the shoe. "26–37" is a size range, not a size chart.
- A stated total of pairs, so you can add up the rows and compare.
- The size system: EU, UK, US or CN, written out.
- Pairs, not pieces, plus cartons and pairs per carton.
Every StockLotsHub lot sheet comes with this breakdown.
5 steps to check it
- Ask for the chart first — the per-size chart and total for the lot, with the date.
- Add the rows yourself — the sum should equal the stated total.
- Match it to the cartons — cartons × pairs per carton should give the same total.
- Mark your fast sizes — which sizes sell quickly in your market, and how many pairs are in them.
- Reconfirm before paying — make sure the chart is still current for the lot.
Example: does it add up?
| Size (EU) | Pairs |
|---|---|
| 31 | 120 |
| 32 | 300 |
| 33 | 240 |
| 34 | 60 |
| Sum of rows | 720 |
| Total on the sheet | 800 |
Here 80 pairs are missing from the rows — ask for the corrected chart before you go further. (Example figures only, not a lot on offer.)
Read the shape, not just the total
Two lots with the same total can sell very differently. A lot spread evenly across the sizes your market buys will clear faster than one where most pairs sit in two or three sizes. Since the whole lot is bought together, plan for the slower sizes before you pay — price the lot as a bundle, use a second sales channel, or ask us for a smaller lot or a lot with a better spread for your market.
Size systems at a glance
Kids' stock lots are usually in EU sizes (for example 26–40); women's often EU 35–40; men's EU 39–45. If your market uses UK or US sizes, keep the EU numbers on the purchase documents and convert in your own notes — conversions vary by style. Where we have the insole length in cm, we add it to the lot sheet.

Questions buyers ask
Can I choose which sizes I buy from a lot?
No — stock lots are sold whole, no size picking. Tell us the sizes your market needs and we will suggest lots with a matching spread.
Why do stock lots have uneven sizes?
They come from overstock, cancelled export orders and season-end surplus, so the spread reflects what was left — that is why they sell at clearance prices.
